LAWTON, Okla. – The No. 19 ranked Aggie women's tennis team closed out Lone Star Conference play this season with a 5-4 win over Tarleton State on Sunday.
Cameron opened up the match up 2-1, as the No. 18 ranked pairing of
Zhenia Shviadok and
Mathilde Thibaudat won 8-4 at No. 1, moving them to 13-6 as a duo this season, and
Rebeka Velasova and
Melany Opolz won 8-5 at No. 3.
Sarah Frendo and
Sara Petric battled in the No. 2 match, but eventually fell 8-4 to their TexAnn counterpart.
In singles, all six matches were decided in two sets. Thibaudat, Frendo and Velasova earned wins at No. 2, 3, and 6 respectively to give the Aggies the five points they needed win the match.Thibaudat is now 14-5 in singles play, 5-1 in LSC matches, while Frendo is 11-6 and 5-1 and Velasova is 14-3 and 4-2 against league opponents.Â
The win improves Cameron to 13-6 on the season and 4-2 in LSC matches. They will close out the regular season on Tuesday, April 17, with a home match against Newman starting at 1 p.m.
