LAWTON, Okla. – Despite a 55 point first half, the Cameron University men's basketball team could not hold off the hot shooting UT Permian Basin Falcons, falling 93-89 on Saturday.
Cameron got off to a hot start offensively, dropping in ten threes in the first half, while shooting the ball at a 55 percent clip from long range. That hot start allowed CU to take a nine point advantage into the break. They held the lead for 17 minutes in the first half, and once led by 16 and were able to nab 17 points off turnovers in the first 20 minutes of play.
Led by
Tyus Momoh with 12 points, the Black and Gold saw three players get into double figures in the first half. Momoh finished with 17 points and grabbed four rebounds.
The Falcons came out of the break on fire, going on a 17-7 run to open the second half taking a one point lead at the 13 minute mark. By the nine minute mark, the UTPB held an eight point advantage behind their 36 rebounds and 16 created turnovers. Cameron was able to get to within two points after three straight free throws by
Kendall Scott, but a pair of UTPB foul shots and an empty offensive possession led to the four point loss.
The Aggies saw four men get into double figures, including Momoh,
Jordan Lewis, who had 16 in 17 minutes, Scott, who had a career-high 13 points, and
Brock Schreiner. CU was outrebounded 43-32, and committed nine more turnovers than the Falcons.
