LAWTON, Okla. -- After almost a 10 day break in competition, the Cameron men's basketball team will return to action as they visit Angelo State on Thursday and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.

Starting 5:
1. In the Aggies win over MSU Texas last week,
Tyus Momoh capped off a 16-3 run in the final three minutes of play with a three pointer with just two seconds on the clock, giving CU the 71-70 win.
2. Momoh has averaged 16.4 points, six rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 2.2 steals during the Aggies last five contests dating back to the start of the new year.
3. Angelo State has won seven of their last 10 games, averaging 80.1 points per game during that time span; they are currently third in the conference with 82.3 points per game.
4. The Rams are ranked fourth in NCAA Division II with a 10.1 rebounding margin and 14th with 14.4 offensive boards per outing.
5. Texas A&M-Kingsville is first in the Lone Star Conference and 22nd nationally in blocks, led by Robert Stevenson, who is second in the league with 1.7 blocks per game.
About the Aggies:
The Aggies are 6-11 this season with a 2-5 LSC mark after taking down MSU Texas last time out. They are currently tied for eighth in the league standings with the Mustangs, as the half-way point in the conference season approaches. CU averages just over 77 points per game, but is giving up 81.3 to their opposition. The Black and Gold is shooting just 40.4 percent from the field, but is hitting on 35.7 percent from three and 73.1 percent from the foul line. Cameron excels at getting to the charity stripe, ranking top-10 in the nation in free throws attempted and made. Their rebounding margin sits at -2.8, while their turnover margin is 3.6 and assist/turnover ration is 0.9. The Aggies are also averaging a league best 8.9 steals and 1.5 blocks per outing.
Individually,
Zach Dumas leads the team with 14.6 points per game, while ranking first in the LSC and top-35 in the nation in free throws attempted and made. Momoh's recent success has bumped his scoring average to 13.3, while also leading the squad in assists (4.4 apg.) and steals (2.0 spg.).
Johann Tate and
Jordan Lewis are both averaging just shy of 10 points and are have the most three point shots made this season for CU with 32 and 28 respectively. Additionally,
Jalen Nicholas averages a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game, and has three double-doubles on the year.
Scouting the Rams:
Angelo State sits at 12-4 overall and 5-2 in league play entering their game against the Aggies. They are coming off back-to-back wins against UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico last week. Against the Falcons, six Rams reached double-figures, led by Antonio Singleton's 21 points, as ASU won 95-91. They had a much easier time against WNMU, as Kiair Crouch scored 23 points to lead his team to an 87-64 win.
The Rams outscore their opposition by an average of 10.4 points, shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, 37 percent from three, and 64.1 percent from the foul line. They out-rebound their opponents by an average of 9.1 and average 12.6 assists, 8.8 steals, and 2.1 blocks per outing. Singleton leads the team with 14.3 points while shooting 51 percent from the floor and 47.8 percent from three. Ronald Bell averages 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds, while both Daron Mims and Crouch are also scoring in double-figures in 2018-19.
The Series Against ASU:
Angelo State leads the all-time series against CU, 28-18, and has won seven out of the last ten matchups, including both during the 2017-18 campaign. In San Angelo, the Rams played 14 players and shot over 50 percent from the field and the perimeter in the 81-58 win, while Dumas led CU with 12 points off the bench. In Lawton, Mims was one of four players reached double-figures with 13 points, and Momoh had 17 for CU in the 87-81 loss.
Scouting the Javelinas:
Texas A&M-Kingsville is just one game over .500 both on the season and in league play, at 8-7 overall and 4-3 against LSC opponents. However, they have won four straight, including an upset 12-point win over then No. 8 West Texas A&M. Most recently, the Javelinas beat WNMU 70-61 and UT Permian Basin 80-72. Rashon Thomas led the way with 22 points against the Mustangs and then Darius Mickens led the way with 21 at UTPB.
While TAMUK averages just 68.9 points per game, they hold their opposition to right under an average of 67 points. They are shooting just over 40 percent from the floor, and lead the conference and are ranked fourth in the nation with a 38.4 opponents' field goal percentage. Additionally, the Javelinas average 10.1 assists compared to 16.8 turnovers, while grabbing 37.3 boards per outing. Mickens leads the way offensively with 9.3 points per game while shooting almost 52 percent from the field. R. Thomas and Chauncey Thomas are both averaging over 8.5 points per outing, and five other players are scoring over 5.0 points.
The Series Against TAMUK:
Cameron leads a tight all-time series by just one game, 21-20. Recently, the battle has followed the history trend, with the past 10 matchups being split evenly at five games apiece. Last season, each team won their respective home games, with the Javelinas winning 63-59 in Kingsville and Cameron winning 67-58 in Lawton. In their home win, Stevensen recorded six points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks off the bench for TAMUK, while
Chris Royal played big minutes off the pine for CU at home, scoring 15 points in just 11 minutes on the floor.
