Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies drop first LSC home game to Texans

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's basketball team could not overcome the scorching hot offense of Tarleton State on Thursday night, falling 86-48.

The Texans were on fire from the start of the game and never slowed, shooting 52.5 percent from the field, 53.8 percent from long range, and 90.9 percent from the foul line in route to their 38 point win over the Aggies. They were led by Josh Hawley's 21 points, while three others reached the double-figure mark.

On the opposite side of the court, Cameron struggled to put the ball in the hoop, hitting on just 27 percent of their shot from the floor while going 7-23 from the perimeter and 7-11 from the foul line. Zach Dumas had a team-high 12 points for the Black and Gold, while Tyus Momoh chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Tarleton State opened up the game hot and never looked back, leading 9-0 at the first media timeout. They used nine three pointers in the half to build up their lead to 44-23 at halftime. Corinthian Ramsey led all scorers with nine points in the first 20 minutes of play, while Dumas had a CU-high six at the break.

TSU did not slow in the second half, shooting over 61 percent from the floor in the frame. Hawley recorded 15 of his 21 during final 20 minutes, while Momoh scored eight of his 10 points in the second.

The loss puts Cameron's record at 4-9 overall and 0-3 in Lone Star Conference play; while Tarleton State is now 11-2 overall and 2-1 in league games.

It does not get much easier next time out for the Black and Gold, as they host 11-2 Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 4 p.m.
