ODESSA, Texas – After falling behind by 20 points in the first half against UT Permian Basin on Saturday, the Cameron men's basketball team was unable to complete the comeback, falling 89-77.

In CU's second Lone Star Conference game of the season, the squad scored just 27 points and was 9-20 from the field in the first half against the Falcons. The struggled from deep, going 2-12 in their triple attempts and were 7-12 from the charity stripe.

Tyler Williams led the Black and Gold with eight points, while
Kendall Scott had seven after 20 minutes of action in Odessa. Cameron, who was down by just one (15-14) at the 10:49 mark, was on the wrong side of a 12-0 run that resulted in the UTPB lead swelling to 20 by the break.

UT Permian Basin saw their lead grow to 26 in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Led by sophomore
Darius Green, the Aggies slowly chipped away at the lead and cut it down to 13 on a made fastbreak layup by freshman
Connor Slater. Seconds later, Slater went 1-2 at the free throw line to get CU to within 12 points of the Falcons.

Cameron battled back and forth with the Falcons, but the home team made 11 foul shots in the final five minutes of play to hold on to their lead and win the game 89-77 to earn their 10th win of the season and move to 2-0 in conference play.

The Aggies finished the game shooting 36.6 percent from the field, 24.1 percent from three, and was 18-26 from the charity stripe. They also turned the ball over 19 times, 10 on UTPB steals, but had the advantage on the glass with 49 rebounds to the home team's 35 boards.

Green's second strong second resulted in him scoring a team-high 16 points in just 10 minutes on the floor. Williams finished with 12 points, while Scott led CU with eight boards and added seven points.

The freshman Slater scored a career-best eight points to go along with six rebounds and a pair of takeaways. A total of 13 Aggies saw the floor on Saturday.

Cameron is now 2-6 on the season and 1-1 against conference opponents. They will try to get back on track next week with two games in front of the Aggie faithful to close out the calendar year. CU hosts Lubbock Christian on Thursday, Dec. 19 and Angelo State on Saturday, Dec. 21.
