LAWTON, Okla. -- The Cameron men's basketball team looks to bounce back from their first Lone Star Conference loss of the year as they host Lubbock Christian on Thursday and Angelo State on Saturday for their final games of 2019.

Starting 5:
1. Despite outscoring their opponent 50-42 in the second half, the Cameron men lost by 12 at UT Permian Basin for their first Lone Star Conference loss of the season.
2. Sophomore
Darius Green scored a career-high 16 points in the loss at UTPB, 15 of which came in the second half; Green was 4-8 from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line in just 10 minutes of action.
3. Lubbock Christian's top two scorers Lloyd Daniels (12.9 ppg) and Kobe Thompson (10.9 ppg) are both shooting over 53 percent from the field and 73 percent from the charity stripe; LCU shoots 43 percent from the floor and 76.7 percent from the free throw line as a team.
4. The 6-1 Angelo State Rams are receiving nine votes in the NABC Top-25 poll and has won six straight games to start the 2019-20 season before falling to No. 19 Dallas Baptist University on Dec. 7, 84-82 in overtime.
5. ASU is fifth in the LSC in scoring (81.7 ppg), but their strength comes on the boards where they lead the league with 41.1 rebounds per contest, led by Andres Ibarguen (9.9 rpg) and Ronald Bell (6.6 rpg); the Rams out-rebound their opponents by an average of 10.4 per outing.
Last time out:
After winning two games in a row, the Aggie men faltered early against the high-powered UT Permian Basin offense. CU was down 20 at halftime and despite scoring 50 points in the second half, lost 89-77. They shot just 36.6 percent from the floor and were 7-29 from three and 18-26 from the charity stripe. Cameron also turned the ball over 19 times, which resulted in 22 points for UTPB.
Green led the team with 16 points in just 10 minutes of action. He was 7-10 from the free throw line, while both
Tyler Williams and
Connor Slater were 3-4 from the foul line. Williams finished with 12 points on 4-14 shooting, while Slater had a season-best eight points to go along with six boards and a pair of steals. CU's leading rebounder,
Kendall Scott grabbed eight boards to lead the team for the eighth game this season.
About the Aggies:
Cameron enters their final games of the 2019 calendar year with a 2-6 overall record and a 1-1 league mark. They are scoring 68 points per game while shooting 39 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from three, and 67.5 percent from the charity stripe. CU holds a 1.0 rebound per game advantage over their opponents, and turns the ball over 15.4 times per outing compared to 9.3 assists each game. Defensively, the Aggies average 6.9 steals and 1.5 blocks while allowing opponents to shoot 46.8 percent from the floor and score 77.9 points per game against them.
Brock Schreiner leads CU with a scoring average of 12.1, while Williams scores 11.4 points per game and
Jordan Lewis averages 10.3 points. Williams leads the team with 1.8 steals per outing, while Lewis is shooting over 48 percent from the field and 41.5 percent from deep. Additionally, Scott averages a team-high 8.5 rebounds to go along with 9.8 points per outing.
Scouting the Chaps:
Lubbock Christian enters the week with a 4-4 overall mark and a 1-2 Lone Star Conference record. They have won three of their last four games, with their one loss coming in a three overtime thriller against DBU. The Chaps average 74.1 points per game while shooting over 43 percent from the floor, 38.6 percent from three, and 76.7 percent from the charity stripe. They make 9.1 three-point field goals per outing and average 15.6 assists, while defensively turning their opponents over 18.4 times per outing, which includes an average of 6.6 steals.
Daniels leads the way offensively for LCU as the 6-4 guard averages 12.9 points while shooting 54.1 percent from the floor. Thompson and Parker Hicks are the other two Chaps scoring in double figures with Thompson averaging 10.9 points and the 6-6 forward Hicks scoring 10 points per outing. Hicks leads the squad with 5.8 boards per game, while Cameron Copley averages 5.8 assists per game, which is third in the LSC.
Scouting the Rams:
After opening the 2019-20 campaign with six straight wins, Angelo State suffered their first loss of the season, 84-82 to DBU in overtime. The Rams are outscoring opponents by 9.6 points per game, putting 81.7 points on their own side of the scoreboard. They are shooting almost 46 percent from the floor and make 8.1 triples and 16.7 foul shots per outing. They dominate the glass, recording 10.4 more rebounds per game than their opposition, but turn the ball over 17.3 times per game, compared to an average of just 11.6 assists.
The 6-6 senior Bell leads ASU with 17.9 points per game while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent from three, and 70.4 percent from the free throw line. Guard Jeremy Hayes is second on the team with 15.6 points per outing, while Collin Turner averages 15.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.4 steals. Additionally, Ibarguen adds 10.0 points per outing to his team-leading 9.9 rebound average. Three of the Rams' top scorers (Bell, Hayes, and Ibarguen) are shooting over 51 percent from the floor.

Cameron's next two outings will be after the new year begins when they visit divisional opponents A&M-Commerce on Thursday, Jan. 2, and UT Tyler on Saturday, Jan. 4. They will be back in the Aggie Gym on Jan. 9 and 11 against St. Mary's and St. Edward's.
