LAWTON, Okla. – The No. 22 ranked Cameron women went 0-2 in a two-match span on Friday and Saturday, losing to UT Arlington on the road before losing their home opener against Seward County.

On Friday, the Aggies traveled to Division I UTA and lost 5-0. The Mavericks began the match by winning 6-1 in both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. They then got wins at the two, three, four, and six singles spots to secure the win.

Cameron then hosted the No. 5 ranked JUCO team in the nation Seward County CC for their home opener on Saturday. CU was able to win one of the three doubles matches, as Rebeka Velasova and Sara Petric won 7-5 at No. 1, but they lost 7-6 at No. 2 and 6-4 at No. 3 to fall behind 1-0 in the match.

The Aggies won three out of the six singles matches, with Petric winning 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, Melany Opolz winning 6-2, 6-2 at the five spot, and Pilar Jaurena winning 7-6, 6-0 at No. 6. That would not be enough for CU to get their first win of the season as they fell 4-3.

Cameron will have a quick turnaround for their next match, as they host No. 14 Northeastern Oklahoma State on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
