Women's tennis loses battle against No. 14 NSU

LAWTON, Okla. – The No. 22 ranked Cameron women's tennis team battled No. 14 Northeastern State on Sunday, but fell 4-3 to the Riverhawks.

Sarah Frendo and Alisa Savina got a win at the No. 2 doubles match, winning 6-2, but due to the new points rule that counts one point for winning two out of the three doubles, NSU earned the point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 and a 6-4 win at No. 3.

That point ended up being the deciding factor, as the Aggies and Riverhawks split the six singles matches. Frendo won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 over the No. 33 ranked Tatjana Stoll, while Savina took down her counterpart at No. 4 6-4, 6-4. CU's third point came at No. 6, as Pilar Jaurena won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Cameron is now 0-5 on the season, while NSU is now 1-1 with the win.

The Aggies next match will not be until March 1, when they host St. Mary's for a match at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex beginning at 1 p.m.
