AUSTIN, Texas – The Cameron women's golf team battled 35-degree temperatures and rain to card a 318 on Tuesday and finish in eighth at the St. Edward's Invitational.
Final Results
The Aggies battled poor playing conditions both days but did a good job of battling to stay in it. After shooting a 314 in the first round, they finished with a 632 for the tournament, 23 strokes back of the tournament winner, who ran away with the title thanks to a 603 two round score.
Iona Roska led the way for CU, shooting a 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for 15th. Her two round score of 155 was just one stroke better than teammate
Allison Duffin, who matched her Monday score of a 78 to finish tied for 17th. Additionally,
Kennedy Wheeler and
Kyndall Morgan finished with scores of 161 and tied for 31st while
Gerdur Ragnarsdottir was two strokes back of them with a 163.Â
Roska led the Aggies and was fourth for the tournament with 23 pars, while Duffin had a team best four birdies. Wheeler was top-10 in the tournament with a +2 par-3 score and Duffin was just three over par on the par-3 holes.
Arkansas Tech finished 17 strokes ahead of the second place teams Southwestern Oklahoma State and Rogers State, who tied with 620 scores. St. Mary's and Central Oklahoma rounded out the top-5, and Tarleton State and St. Edward's finished in sixth and seventh respectively.Â
The Rattler's Regina Gonzalez took home the individual title with a two round score of 144 and Pia Nnbhakdi of ATU placed second with a 146; the Golden Suns had three players finish in the top-5.
Cameron's next event of the spring will be March 4-5 when they compete in the Lady Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
