Aggies launch eight homers in doubleheader sweep of Mustangs

SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Aggie softball team swept their twin bill against Western New Mexico behind eight home runs to improve to 23-11 on the season.
 
In game one, Cameron put on a hitting clinic when the Black and Gold slapped seven home runs. Brenna Busby hit a pair of home runs in game one, the first coming in the first inning as the leadoff batter.
 
Raley Long hit a long ball of her own in the second inning, and Khmari Edwards continued the home run barrage into the third inning when she put the Aggies up 4-3. Breley Webb would also homer in that inning.
 
B. Busby hit her second home of the day in that third inning to boost the Aggies lead to a commanding 10-3.
 
Callie Busby got in on the action with a home run in the fourth inning to push the consecutive home run streak for the Aggies to four innings and make the score 11-3.
 
Abbey Warren hit a homer in the seventh to conclude the scoring and home runs on the day pushing the final score to 14-8 in game one.
 
In game two, the Aggie offense got off to another fast start when Webb roped a double into center field to bring in B. Busby. Alyssa Osterdock singled home Warren in the third inning to make it 2-0.
 
Madyson Marvulli doubled to straightaway center field to plate Edwards, and later scored in the same inning by way of a double steal.
 
The Cameron Aggies broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring ten runs in the frame. It was highlighted when B. Busby hit her third home run of the day, first of the second game.
 
Cameron improves to 23-11 overall and 10-7 in Lone Star Conference play with the pair of wins. They will conclude the series at WNMU on Saturday with the finale beginning at 1 p.m. (CT).
