LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggie women's tennis team suffered their first Lone Star Conference loss of the season, falling to No. 18 Angelo State on Friday.
 
Cameron started on a high note against the Rambelles, going 2-1 in doubles to earn the first point of the match. Rebeka Velasova and Alisa Savina took down the No. 38 ranked pairing of Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina 6-2 at the one spot, while Sarah Frendo and Sara Petric won their match at No. 2, 7-5.
 
In singles play, ASU took an early 2-1 lead with wins at No. 4 and No. 5. The No. 21 ranked Frendo evened the match up with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the one spot over No. 10 Gonzalez. Velasova gave CU back the lead with a 6-4, 7-6 at No. 2, setting the match at 3-2. However, the Belles secured the win in a pair of three set wins at No. 3 and No. 6.
 
Cameron is now 6-10 overall this season and 3-1 in league play, while ASU improves to 17-3 overall and 3-0 against league opponents.
 
The Aggies will have a quick turnaround, as they host No. 25 St. Edward's on Saturday at 1 p.m.
