LAWTON, Okla. -- The Aggie men look to bounce back from a pair of home loses as they battle Red River rival Midwestern State for a home-and-home series this week, first on Wednesday in Wichita Falls, Texas then on Saturday at home.

1. Despite falling to the No. 7 ranked St. Edward's Hilltoppers last Saturday, the Cameron men recorded season highs in field goal percentage (.467) and three-point percentage (.500) and made a season-best 28 field goals and 11 three-point field goals.
2. Last time out, Cameron had a strong effort from their bench, which scored 55 of the team's 76 points;
Kinyon Parker and
Andrew Nguyen accounted for 34 of those points as both players recorded a career-high 17 points in the loss.
3. Midwestern State, who owns a 2-12 record this season, ranks 12th in NCAA Division II and first in the Lone Start Conference with a 29.9 opponents three-point field goal percentage; the Mustangs are in their first season under long-time Azusa Pacific head coach Justin Leslie.
4. The Mustangs get 39.1 of their 70.4 points per game from their four seniors, Darius Thompson, D'monta Harris, Ola, Ayodele, and Elijah Lee; Thompson leads the squad and is 17th in the Lone Star Conference with 15.1 points per outing.
5. Rivalry Week is important for both division and league standings, as both Cameron and Midwestern State enter the week with 2-6 conference records and 1-1 marks against division opponents.

Last Saturday, Cameron fell 88-76 to the No. 7 ranked St. Edward's Hilltoppers, despite shooting a season-high 46.7 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three point range. Most of CU's 11 three-pointers came off the bench in the form of
Andrew Nguyen and
Kinyon Parker. Both Nguyen and Parker scored a career-high 17 points with Nguyen going 3-4 from three and 6-6 from the charity stripe and Parker going 6-7 from the field and 5-6 from long range.
Kendall Scott added 10 points on 5-7 shooting for the black and Gold. The Aggies held St. Edward's to a 27.6 three-point percentage, but the now 14-1 Hilltoppers still shot 45.6 percent from the floor and went 28-35 from the charity stripe. They also forced 18 CU turnovers which resulted in 28 points, and scored 36 of their points from inside the paint.
About the Aggies:
Cameron's quick homestand last week resulted in a pair of loses, dropping their season record to 3-11 and conference mark to 2-6. Against MSU, CU will get a chance to move up in the division and conference standings as both teams are 1-1 against division opponents. The Aggies are scoring just under 70 points per game, while giving up 77.7 to their opposition. They are shooting an even 40 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from three, and 68.8 percent from the charity stripe; CU makes 7.5 treys and 12.6 free throws per outing. Cameron is one of the top rebounding team in the conference, ranking second with 38.4 boards per outing, including a LSC-best average of 13.7 offensive rebounds. They have recently increased their assist numbers to 11.1 per game, while turning the ball over 15.2 times each outing. Defensively, the Aggies average 6.0 steals and 1.8 block while allowing opponents to shoot 46.7 percent against them.
Just two Aggies are averaging over 10 points per game, led by
Tyler Williams with a 10.4 scoring average. The senior guard is also averaging 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest.
Kendall Scott is also scoring 10.0 points per game along with 7.2 rebounds per contest, which ranks top-5 in the LSC. Cameron also has
Jordan Lewis averaging 9.7 points while shooting 40.6 percent from three, while sophomore Brock Schriener averages 9.5 points and 1.9 assists per contest.
Scouting the Mustangs:
Midwestern State enters the Red River showdown with a 2-12 overall mark and a 2-6 conference record. They started the season on an eight-game losing skid, but a win over Angelo State on Dec. 19 snapped that streak. Since then, they have gone 1-4 with their one victory coming against UT Tyler, 59-44. Last week, the Mustangs lost by 38 to No. 7 St. Edward's and by eight to St. Mary's. Like the Aggies, MSU is scoring right around 70 points per game, while giving up 75.7 to their opposition. They are shooting 43.7 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from three, and 76.2 percent from the foul line. Midwestern State makes 9.5 triples per game and averages 11.6 made free throws. The trail in the rebounding battle by an average of 0.7 boards per game while recording 12.6 assists compared to 17.1 turnovers per contest. Defensively, they record just 4.8 steals per game and average 2.9 blocks while giving up a 43.4 shooting percentage to their opponents.
Senior guard Dorian Thompson leads MSU with 15.1 points per game, with averaging 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.6 steals all while shooting 48.3 percent from the field. D'monta Harris averages 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and shoots over 81 percent from the charity stripe. Additionally, freshman Evan McCarthy scores 9.7 points per game and is shooting over 47 percent from three, while 6-7 forward Jalin Brown leads the squad with 7.2 boards per game to go along with a 7.9 scoring average.

Cameron has two more LSC divisional games next week after their two battles with Midwestern State this week. The Aggies visit UAFS on Thursday, Jan. 23, and then Oklahoma Christian on Saturday, Jan. 25. CU then returns home to wrap up the month with a contest against Texas A&M International on Jan. 30.
