LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron basketball doubleheader against Midwestern State on Saturday, Jan. 18, has been tabbed as Military Appreciation day at the Aggie Gym.
Cameron University has invited over 600 soldiers from Ft. Sill to join the Aggie faithful on Saturday against their Red River rivals. The Aggies and Mustangs met just two days ago in Wichita Falls, Texas with MSU taking the women's game and Cameron winning the men's; both games were single-digit contests.
With the additional fan support from the base, the whole north side of the Aggie Gym will be blocked off reserved for the soldiers. All fans, from both teams, will be asked to sit in the remaining sections on the south side of the gymnasium. Section "C" which is normally reserved for Cameron Athletics Gold Club members will still be blocked off for boosters, with empty seats to be filled if necessary. The rest of the south side is first come first serve seating.
In addition to the normal Aggie Gym concession stand, there will be three food trucks parked along the east side of the facility to help with the extra fan support. If fans wish to visit the food trucks after the have already entered the gym, they will need to show their ticket to be able to re-enter.
Cameron Athletics would like to thank Ft. Sill for allowing their troops to come and be a part of this storied rivalry.
The women's basketball game against MSU will begin at 2 p.m. with the men to follow at around 4 p.m. Be sure to get to the Aggie Gym early, as seating will be limited. Doors open one hour before tip-off of the women's game.Â
