CU drops a pair at Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Despite three home runs on the day, the Aggie baseball team dropped a pair to No. 1/No. 12 Angelo State after getting outscored 21-10.

Cameron looked to bounce back in a big way on doubleheader Saturday against one of the nations' top teams after getting run-rules in the opening game of the series on Friday.

In-game two of the series, the Aggies got the scoring started in the first inning with a Ryan Carter RBI double to plate Nate Pecota. The lead would last less than half an inning, as the Rams answered with a sac-fly in the bottom half of the frame.

Jayce Clem launched a homer over the left-field wall in the very next inning to re-gain the lead for the Black and Gold. Again, the lead lasted just half an inning, as Brody Curry gave up a solo shot to start the bottom of the second inning. The Rams went on to post three more runs in the bottom half of the second.

A Beau Williams homer followed by a Clem RBI double showed the Black and Gold were not going away. Erik Ohman doubled home Clem to pull the Aggies within a run in the fifth inning.

The Angelo State offense was too much to handle though, as their bats broke out for a six-spot in the sixth inning to put the game away.

In-game three of the series, The Rams bats got the scoring started early. Two runs came around to score on a Josh Elvir homer in the first inning. ASU scored three more in the second inning, before getting that same run production in the fourth. ASU collected a run in both the fifth and the sixth inning to push ten runs across.

A Williams fielder's choice got the Aggies their first of four runs in game two in the third inning. CU scored three runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run Jordan Harrison-Dudley homer to left field.

The Aggies will look to stave off a sweep in game four of the series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. in San Angelo.
