LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's basketball team out-lasted division leader A&M-Commerce 67-66 behind Kendall Scotts' 30-point effort.
 
The Aggies entered tonight's game clinging to hopes of making the Lone Star Conference tournament, needing to top the A&M-Commerce Lions, who entered today 15-8 overall, including a perfect 7-0 Lone Star Conference divisional record.
 
At the first media timeout, the Aggies were hanging right with the tough Lions, down by just a bucket. The sophomore Scott raced out to seven points, which was just the beginning of his big day.
 
The game stayed within a few possessions the entire first half, and at the break, the Aggies were down just one point. CU lost the battle on the glass in the first twenty minutes by five rebounds but committed just five turnovers in the frame.
 
Scott totaled 20 points in the first half and could not be stopped, making eight of his first nine shots. He ended the game with a career-high 30 points, which was the first time an Aggie has scored at least 30 points since 2017 when Delvonte Pierre poured in 31 in a matchup with Eastern New Mexico. Scott also pulled down four rebounds and dished out two assists. He was a force defensively as well, swatting a shot and coming away with a pair of steals.
 
The game was a back and forth affair seeing over ten lead changes. The Aggies won the game on the defensive end, where they forced 16 turnovers and grabbed 24 boards. The Black and Gold also held the Lions to just 35 percent shooting from the floor.
 
Tyler Williams provided 10 huge points off the Black and Gold bench, with five rebounds and seven assists. Brock Schreiner was the third Aggie in double-figures going for ten points and an assist.
 
Cameron will continue their quest for a spot in the LSC tournament next week, as they wrap up their homestand with two more division rematches. They host Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, Feb. 20, and then UAFS for Senior Day and Homecoming on Saturday, Feb. 22.
