TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Cameron women's tennis team fell 5-2 in a road match against a tough Northeastern State team on Saturday afternoon.

After winning their exhibition against Seward County CC on Friday, the Aggie women had a much tougher test against the Riverhawks.

Cameron started the match on the wrong side of three doubles losses. Both duos of
Pilar Jaurena and
Vasilisa Polunova and
Julianne Garcia and
Alisa Savina lost their matches at one and two by scores of 6-3. In the No. 2 doubles battle,
Melany Opolz and
Alex Lopez fell 6-2 to make it a clean sweep for NSU.

The Aggies' lone wins of the match came from Lopez and Savina. Lopez earned a comeback 1-6, 7-6, 10-6 win at No. 2, while Savina defeated her opponent 3-6, 7-5, 15-13 at No. 4. The other three-set battle came at No. 1, where Polunova took the third ranked Tatjana Stoll to three sets, falling 6-0, 2-6, 6-4.

After losing their third match of the year, Cameron will have almost three weeks to regroup before their next contest of the spring. They will be in Wichita Falls, Texas, March 6-8, where they will battle Metro State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State-Pueblo, and Southwest Baptist.
