WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Aggie women got off to a rough start on Friday to begin their four-game slate of matches in Wichita Falls, Texas, losing 4-2 to Metro State and 4-3 to Colorado Mesa in two close battles.

Cameron's first match of the day against MSU Denver started off on a high note with the Black and Gold winning two out of the three decisions.
Alisa Savina and
Alex Lopez took down their opponent at No. 1, 6-4, while
Vasilisa Polunova and
Melany Opolz won at two, 6-2, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Aggies would only get one more win in the shortened match, as the junior Savina won 6-1, 6-2 at the four spot. Both Polunova at one and
Julianne Garcia at No. 5 took their matches to three sets before falling.

In their second match against Colorado Mesa, the Aggies were on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision in doubles play, falling behind 1-0 to the Mavericks. CU's lone win came from Lopez and Savina at No. 1, where they won 6-3.

Pilar Jaurena had a convincing 6-1, 6-1 at the six spot, while Savina won 6-4, 6-2 at four and Polunova came back for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at the top spot. However, CU fell in the other three spots, losing the match 4-3.

Cameron, who has yet to earn their first official win of the spring, will get another chance at it on Saturday, when they battle Colorado State-Pueblo at 9 a.m. in Wichita Falls.
