LUBBOCK, Texas – The Aggie women and men's track and field teams wrapped up the program's first ever Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday with a top-10 finish from
Eduardo Gutierrez in the men's 3000m race.

After securing their first points of the meet during Friday's distance medley, both Cameron teams were unable to add anything to their team scores, with both teams rounding out the team standings for the two-day event. Angelo State won the men's title with a total of 188 points, while West Texas A&M claimed the women's championship with 162 points.
Cameron opened Saturday's action with athletes competing in the mile event. In the women's race,
Edna Cheptum finished in 13
th place with a time of 5:36.34. There were three Aggies in the men's mile with
Steffen Riestenpatt leading the way with a 11
th place finish and a time of 4:29.47, while
Jason Cousineau came in 14
th (4:34.72) and
Dereck Adames finished in 17
th (4:37.02).
The Aggie men had two runners competing in the 3000m event, led by the junior Gutierrez, who placed ninth with a time of 8:56.61, while
Loic Rossignaud ran a time of 9:07.12 and came in 16
th place.
Cameron's day, as well as everyone else's, culminated with the 4x400 relay event. The women's team of
Alexis Jefferson,
Serah Timbwol,
Sarah Wright, and
Prisca Kouao finished their race with a time of 4:12.32 and came in ninth, while the men's quartet of
Madison Edwards, Sebastian Padron-Cassadiegos, Riestenpatt, and
Dakota McMullin also came in ninth with a time of 3:39.66 in their race.
The Aggie track and field program's wrap up their indoor season and will look to carry what they learned and achieved this winter into the outdoor season, which begins on March 20 at the Bobby Lane Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
