LAWTON – One team will earn their first win this week as the Cameron men's basketball team and Oklahoma Christian face off in a battle of the winless home-and-home series.

STARTING 5:
1. After their two losses to No. 25 DBU this past week, the Cameron men are 0-6 to start the season for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign; CU lost eight straight to start that season and went on two finish 6-21.
2. Freshman Marques Warrior Jr. had a pair of strong performances against the Patriots as he averaged 13 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals over the two game series.
3. Despite scoring just seven points this past week against DBU, junior Brock Schreiner still leads the team and is in the top-10 in the Lone Star Conference in scoring with an average of 18.2 points per game; he also leads the league in free throw shooting as he has gone 18-18 from the foul line to start the season.
4. Like the Aggies, Oklahoma Christian is still searching for their first win of the 2020-21 season, and all but one of their losses have come by 10 or more points; they played No. 24 Lubbock Christian and Angelo State.
5. Despite their four losses, OC has four players averaging over 10 points this season led by freshman guard Elijah Elliot who is averaging 14.5 points and 3.5 assists and has reached double-figures in all four games.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Aggies faced a tough task of containing No. 25 DBU in their first series of 2021. They were able meet that task for at least the first half of each of the two outings against the Patriots. In the series opener, CU led by one at halftime, but then were on the wrong side of a 53-37 second half. At home against DBU, rebounded from a couple of early deficits in the first half, but from the four minute mark in the first half to the final ticks on the clock in the second the game was controlled by the Patriots. Warrior Jr. and Connor Slater reached double-figures in both games of the series against DBU.

ABOUT THE AGGIES:
Cameron enters their second division series still searching for their first win of the season. It's been a mixed bag for the Aggies as three of their losses have come by five or less points and three have been by over 10. The bad has out-weight the good though with CU owning a scoring margin of -14.5 this season. Offensively, they are averaging 77.2 points with a .425 shooting percentage and 7.5 made triples per outing. Defensively, CU ranks last in the LSC in scoring defense and opposing field goal percentage. Three players are averaging over 10 points for the Black and Gold. Schreiner leads the way with his 18.2 points per game, while Kendall Scott is scoring 12.7 points to go along with his team-leading 8.3 rebounds per outing. Averaging 10.5 points is freshman Warrior Jr., who also records 2.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per outing.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
In their four losses this season, Oklahoma Christian has averaged 68.8 points on the offensive end while giving up 83.5 on defense. They are shooting 40.6 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from three, and only 52.5 from the foul line. OC has been out-rebounded by 10.5 on average, but is only turning the ball over 9.8 times per outing. Elliot leads the team with 14.0 points per game, while Marco Foster averaged 12.5, Anthony Johnson averages 10.5, and D.J. Walter scores 10.3 points per game. Walter also leads the squad with 5.3 rebounds per game, one of three OC players averaging around five boards per outing.

AGAINST OC:
Cameron leads the overall series against OC 14-11, but last season the two teams split the season series. The Eagles took advantage of poor shooting by the Aggies in the first game to win 63-52. Both Scott and Schreiner scored in double-figures for CU. Later in the season, the Black and Gold benefit from a strong first half and then held on for a 65-62 victory over OC. Cameron shot 44.6 percent from the field in the win, but none of their returners scored 10 points in the contest; Scott was closest with nine points, five assists, and four rebounds.

WHO HAS NEXT:
Following their matchups with the Eagles, Cameron was scheduled to host Western New Mexico for a pair of non-conference battles. However, due to COVID-19 concerns, those games have been canceled and CU's next schedule games are against UAFS on Jan. 21 at home and Jan. 23 in Fort Smith, Ark.
