EDMOND – After a strong start to the Grace Shin Memorial Invitational, the Aggie women's golf dropped three spots to finish in eighth at their third event of the fall with a 36-hole score of 611 on Tuesday.
Cameron went out on Monday morning and carded a 301 and was in fifth place led by senior
Iona Roska, who was in second place individually with a one-under score of 70. The Aggies were not as solid during the final round on Tuesday, adding nine strokes to their score to finish in 25 strokes of the tournament winner Rogers State.
Roska and
Ellie Fellers had the low rounds of the day for the Black and Gold, each shooting a 76 during the final round in Edmond. Roska finished the 36-hole event with a 146 and tied for ninth place individually. Fellers ended the event with a 159.
Emma Englefield added a 78 to her two-round total, ending up with a 157 for the tournament, one stroke back of teammate
Gerdur Ragnarsdottir, who scored an 80 on Tuesday.
Additionally,
Ashley Davis and
Molleejo Crain, who was competing as an individual, where forced to withdraw do to health and safety protocols.
Malerie Nyberg, also competing as an individual finished with a 165 after shooting an 82 on Tuesday.
Cameron finished with 14 birdies and 89 pars for the two-round Grace Shin Invite. Roska was one-under for the par-3 holes and two-over on the par-4 holes. She led the Aggies with six birdies, while she and Englefield each had a team-best 20 made pars.
The Hillcats won the event by three strokes with Nebraska-Kearney coming in second and the host team Central Oklahoma placing third. Central Missouri and Henderson State tied for fourth place and Northeastern State and Southwestern Oklahoma separated CU from the top-5 finishers.
Individually, NSU's Aitana Hernandez moved up four spots in the final round to claim the top spot with an even 142 score. UCO's Susana Olivares and RSU's Lydia Sitorus and Ellen Loving all tied for third with scores of 143.
The Cameron women's golf team will wrap up their fall schedule next week, Oct. 11-12, when they host the annual Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the Lawton Country Club.
