LAWTON – The Cameron men face one of their toughest tests of the season on Tuesday when they visit No. 1 Lubbock Christian before traveling to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
The Aggie men's basketball team has played just five games to open the 2021-22 campaign but wraps up the first half with a tough non-conference stretch this week against league foes LCU and ENMU before the Division II Holiday Break next week. The game in Lubbock is scheduled for 7 p.m. and Saturday's contest is set for 5 p.m. (CT).
STARTING 5
1. Cameron knocked down 11 three-pointers in their overtime win over Western New Mexico in the Aggie Gym last time out, the program's first win in overtime since 2016.

Deondre Earley led the Aggies with 17 points with three made three-pointers against WNMU, leading a group of five Aggies to reach 10 points in the game, including 14 for both
Joshua Fanuiel and
Colt Savage, the team's leading scorer this season.
3. Todd Duncan has his Chaps undefeated and ranked No. 1 in both Division II national polls with three top-25 wins already this season led by Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year Parker Hicks, who is averaging 16 points and 9.2 rebounds to this point in the season.
4. Eastern New Mexico, averaging almost 80 points as a team this season, has four players scoring over 10 points per game through the first few months of the season led by Jose Serrano (12.6 ppg) and Adam Hess (12.4 ppg).
5. This week marks the last slate of games that Lone Star Conference teams will play each other in non-league standings counting games. The first official week of conference play begins on Jan. 31 for most teams in the league.
ABOUT THE AGGIES
Cameron now sits at 2-3 with their win over Western New Mexico last time out. They are averaging just 71.8 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the floor and 41.6 percent from three, which ranks first in the LSC and 13th nationally. They also make 18 free throws per game and hit them at a 74.4 percent clip. Defensively, CU is giving up 77 points to their opposition while allowing them to shoot 42.6 percent from the field and 27 percent from three. They also average 6.4 steals and 4.4 blocks, which is second most in the conference to this point in the season. Savage (17.4 ppg) and
Brock Schreiner (14 ppg) lead the scoring attack for CU, while
Connor Slater averages eight points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per contest while anchoring the Aggies' frontcourt with the freshman Fanuiel adding 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds
SCOUTING THE CHAPS
Lubbock Christian has been rolling to start the new season, out-scoring opponents by an average of 22.3 points per game and shooting over 52 percent from the field. They get it done on the perimeter, converting 9.3 triples per contest at a 38 percent clip. Defensively, LCU is holding teams to 36 percent shooting from the field and 26 percent from long range. They are also out-rebound teams by an average of 6.8 rebounds and turn the ball over just 9.8 times per outing. Hicks leads a group of four Chaps scoring over 11 points per game while shooting 57 percent from the floor. Lloyd Daniels is averaging 15.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and five assists, while Aamer Muhammad scores 15.4 points per game with an average of 5.3 rebounds.
LAST TIME AGAINST LCU
Cameron and the Chaps did not meet last season, but in their previous matchup in 2019, LCU came away with a dominant 82-66 win on CU's home floor. Lubbock Christian started off hot and finished the game shooting over 52 percent from the field. Hicks had 15 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks and was one of five LCU players to reach 10 points in the win. CU shot 43 percent from the floor and the top returning scorer was
Darius Green, who had 11 points on 4-7 shooting from the floor; Slater added nine points and seven rebounds.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
The 4-5 Greyhounds have had no trouble scoring the ball, averaging nearly 80 points while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 38 percent from three. However, the struggle keeping teams from scoring, giving up 82 points and a 46.6 shooting percentage to their opposition. Serrano leads the way with his 12.6 scoring average while also shooting over 57 percent from the floor. Hess has made 23 three-pointers this season and is hitting them at a 43 percent clip. Yosnier Cobas leads the squad with 5.3 boards per outing and Kentrell Pullian has a team-best 3.6 assists per contest.
LAST TIME AGAINST ENMU
With the Greyhounds opting out of last season, the last time the two teams met was back in February of 2020. The home team Hounds came away with a 92-71 win on their home floor thanks to a big second half that saw them out-score CU by 20 points. Cameron shot under 40 percent from the field and was just 5-22 from long range. Schreiner, Green, and Slater combined for just 19 points with former Aggie Jordan Lewis leading the team with 16. Serrano scored 20 points off the bench for ENMU, going 7-7 from the free throw line while the team shot almost 54 percent from the field in the win.
WHO HAS NEXT
After the Division II Holiday break, Cameron plays a make-up game against Rogers State, which was originally scheduled for Nov. 27. The non-conference battle with the Hillcats is on Dec. 29 at 6 p.m. in Claremore, Okla. and gives CU a tune-up before beginning official LSC play on Dec. 31 at Oklahoma Christian.
