LAWTON – The Cameron men's basketball team wraps up the 2020-21 regular season with home-and-home Lone Star Conference North Division series against Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday and Saturday.

STARTING 5:
1. As it has seemed all season, the Aggies looked like two different teams in their games against No. 4 West Texas A&M last weekend, losing by just four and out-rebounding and out-shooting the Buffs in game one and then losing by 53 in the second meeting.
2. Freshman guard Marques Warrior Jr. has averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals over the Aggies last three games.
3. Sophomore forward Connor Slater recorded his first career double-double in game one against WT, scoring 10 points on 4-9 shooting while grabbing 10 of CU's 52 rebounds.
4. Prior to this week, when the beat Oklahoma Christian on Sunday and lost to Angelo State on Tuesday, Texas A&M-Commerce had not played a game since Feb. 6, with three of their four canceled matchups during that span scheduled to be against top-25 opponents.
5. The Lions are first in the Lone Star Conference and second in all of NCAA Division II in three-point defense, limiting opponents to a percentage of 28.1 from long range.

LAST TIME OUT:
Last weekend was a frustrating two games for head coach Andrew Brown and his Aggies. Facing then No. 4 West Texas A&M, CU out-shot and out-rebounding their ranked opponent in game one, but an early deficit and late cold-streak proved costly in the four-point loss. After being so close the night before, CU's intensity dropped off in game two, as things quickly got out of hand in a 103-50 blowout loss to WT. Warrior poured in 18 points in both games, flirting with a triple-double in game one with eight assists and six rebounds. Brock Schreiner, Kendall Scott, and Slater all added double-digit scoring games during Friday's loss.

ABOUT THE AGGIES:
Despite their efforts in game one, Cameron fell to 1-14, 0-9 at home, with the two losses to the Buffs and have lost eight straight. They average a respectable 72.1 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field on the season, but give up over 86 points and a .477 shooting percentage on defense. CU makes over 14 foul shots per outing at a 71 percent clip, but also allow their opposition to make 19 free throws per game as they average 21.6 personal fouls per game. After averaging over 20 points for the first seven games of the season, Schreiner has yet to reach that 20-point plateau again, now averaging 16.1 points on the year with just 13 combined in the two games against WT. Warrior has played himself over the 10-point per game mark, now averaging 11.1 to go along with his team-leading 3.1 assists per outing. Additionally, both Scott and Slater are averaging over 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for CU.

SCOUTING THE LIONS:
Texas A&M-Commerce has had an up-and-down season that has them entering the final weekend of the regular season with a 6-6 record and right on the edge of making the LSC postseason (currently in seventh). They are only averaging 1.9 less points than they are giving up and excel on defense, recording 3.2 blocks per outing, which is third best in the league. Senior Augustine Ene has had a solid year for the Lions, averaging 14.3 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field, 40 percent from three, and 86.5 percent from the charity stripe. Devin Bethely averages 12.8 points and 5.9 assists, but did not play in the two games earlier this week, while junior Demarcus Demonia averages 11.9 points to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

AGAINST A&M-C:
Commerce owns a 10-game lead over the Aggies in their all-time series. Last year, the two teams splitting the season series with each squad winning on their home court. In commerce, Cameron was 4-19 from three and misses 11 free throws in the 73-69 loss. Scott had 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals for the Aggies. When the two met in the Aggie Gym, Scott went off on the Lions, scoring a career-best 30 points on 13-19 shooting in a game that went down to the final seconds, with CU pulling out the 67-66 victory.

WHO HAS NEXT:
The Aggies are currently at the bottom of the LSC point ranking system and despite what happens this weekend have been eliminated from making the conference postseason.
