TAHLEQUAH – The Cameron men's tennis team extending their winning streak by taking down Northwest Missouri State 4-3 on Friday morning.
The Aggies, who opened Lone Star Conference play with a 7-0 win over UAFS on Thursday, added a non-conference win to their streak the next morning, stretching it out to five straight victories over the last two weeks and improving to 6-4 on the season.
In doubles play, the Black and Gold got wins at one and two to secure the point.
Bruno Vietri and
Oscar del Granado earned a 6-3 win on court one and then
Joao Duleba and
Maycon Dias picked up a 7-6 win at two.
The Bearcats earned wins at one and six singles early on, while Cameron got wins from Dias (6-3, 6-4) at three and
Alvaro Chavez (6-4, 6-4) at four to set the score at 3-2. The match ended up coming down to the battle on court two between del Granado and Fabien Calloud.
CU's del Granado bounced won the first set 6-2 before his counterpart won 6-4 in set two. The junior from Santa Cruz, Bolivia then came away with a 7-5 win in the deciding set to give the Aggies their fourth point. NWMSU won match at five in three sets to set the score at 4-3.
Cameron is back at home on Saturday, March 20, for their next match, which will be another make-up contest against Seward County at 2 p.m. at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.
