WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Cameron men's tennis team dropped their first of four matches in four days, falling to Southwest Baptist 4-3 on Friday morning.
The Aggies entered Friday with a slate of four matches stretch from March 5 to March 8 and spanning two different locations. It all started with a matchup against Southwest Baptist, CU's first Division II opponent of the spring.
On a blustery morning in north Texas, the CU men fell behind 1-0 after dropping two of the three doubles matches to the Bearcats. Cameron's lone win came on court one, where
Bruno Vietri and
Oscar del Granado defeated Carlos Corser and Max Sanoja 6-4.
The two teams spilt the six singles matches, giving SBU the 4-3 win. On court two, del Granado put together a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win over Corser, while
Maycon Dias needed three sets to earn his win at No. 3, 7-6, 6-4, 6-2. The third Aggie win came on court four, where freshman
Joao Duleba defeated SBU's Fabian Neff, 7-5, 6-4.
Cameron has now lost three straight matches but will look to get back on track on Saturday. CU faces No. 25 Southern Arkansas at 9 a.m. in Wichita Falls to start the day before heading home to Lawton to face Oklahoma Baptist at 3 p.m.
