LUBBOCK, Texas – The Aggie baseball team suffered a 10-0 shutout on Friday night against Lubbock Christian for their 10th straight loss.
Cameron entered their three-game set against the Chaps looking to snap a nine-game losing streak that dates back to March 27. However, they had no answer both the LCU bats and pitching staff in the opening game of the series on Friday night.
Weston Max got the start on the mound for the Black and Gold and put up zeros in the first and second innings. A RBI single in the third gave Lubbock a 1-0 lead, that was extended to 5-0 after a big four-run fifth inning for the home squad.
The Chaps then scored single runs in the sixth and seventh frames and then added three more in the eighth to win the contest via the run-rule.
Skipper
Kyle Williams saved his bullpen by deploying just Max and
Carter Bourg in game one of the set. Max gave up five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters in 4.2 innings of work. Bourg went the final 3.0 innings, giving up five runs as well on seven hits and three walks while punching out four LCU hitters.
Lubbock's staff of Armando Valle and Cannon Davis held CU to just two hits and two walks. Valle struck out 12 batters in his 7.0 innings to earn his third win of the year. Davis was perfect in the eighth inning to finish things off.
Erik Ohman and
Jordan Harrison-Dudley supplied the two Aggie hits; Harrison-Dudley's was of the two-bag variety. Ohman also walked twice, reaching base three of the four times he came to the plate.
Now 4-23 on the season and 4-18 in league play, Cameron will try and wake up their bats on Saturday as they battle the Chaps two more times with game one scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and game two to follow.
