KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Cameron women's tennis team wrapped up their weekend on Saturday with a 4-3 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville after falling to No. 13 Angelo State on Friday.
The Aggies, now 7-9 and 1-6 in Lone Star Conference play, entered the weekend trying to snap a five match losing skid against a top-15 ranked Rambelle squad and a tough Javelinas team.
On Friday against ASU, Cameron went 0-3 in doubles play to fall behind in the match.
Alex Lopez and
Pilar Jaurena had the closest match on court three, falling 7-5, while
Alisa Savina and
Karolina Glowinska fell to the 13th ranked duo of Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina 6-1 on court one and
Lea Manga and
Melany Opolz lost 6-2 on two.
The Aggies lone point in the match came at four, as Manga defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4. The other five matches were decided in straight sets, leading to a 6-1 ASU win.
After a trip to Kingsville, Cameron once again started a match down 1-0 losing on courts one and two in doubles play; Opolz and Manga earned a 6-4 win on three.
In singles play, the Aggies evened up the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win from Savina on court three and then Lopez gave the team a 2-1 advantage with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win on two. The Javlinas earned wins at one and four to take back the lead, but Jaurena tied the match again with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 win on six.

Julianne Garcia battles Milou ter Morsche 7-6 (7-5) in set one before falling 7-5 in the second set, giving TAMUK the 4-3 conference win.
Cameron wraps up the regular season next weekend with another long road trip. Both Aggie tennis squads visit UT Permian Basin on Friday, April 23, and then Western New Mexico on Saturday, April 24, before heading into postseason action.
