Williams, Harrison-Dudley, and Ohman all have three hit games at Texas A&M International

LAREDO, Texas – Jordan Harrison-Dudley's three-hit game and Beau Williams' clutch homer fuel Aggies to 7-5 win in game one before falling on a walk-off in the second game of their doubleheader at Texas A&M International on Friday.

The Cameron baseball team hit the road for the final time in 2021 looking for their first series win since February. They started off on the right foot, earning their sixth win over their opponent from Laredo in the first game, but dropped their 29th of the season in game two.

In game one, the Aggies came back from a 4-0 deficit to earn the 7-5 win over the Dustdevils thanks to big games from Williams and Harrison-Dudley.

Texas A&M International scored two runs in the second and two in the third off starter Weston Max. Max put together a quality start, giving up three earned runs on eight hits while strikeout out four batters in five innings of work.

Cameron chipped into the TAMIU lead in the fourth as Kalen Haynes brought home Williams on a single up the middle.

Two innings later, the Aggies got to within one run thanks to a two-run home run by Harrison-Dudley with Williams on first.

After the Dustdevils got one of those runs bac in the bottom of the sixth, Cameron tied the game in the seventh, scoring two runs on three hits and an error. Ryan Carter reached on an error to leadoff the frame and then Williams singled to put two on.

Following the first two outs of the inning, Julian Macias singled to load the bases. In the next at-bat Haynes was hit, allowing pinch-runner Casey Yeager to score. Nick Sanchez then singled to bring home another run, but Macias was thrown out trying to score to end the inning tied.

Williams came up clutch in the eighth, hitting a two-run homer of his own, with Erik Ohman coming around to score after hitting a single earlier in the frame.

Carter Bourg and Tyler Cornett did a good job out of the Aggie bullpen to help their team secure the win. Bourg gave up just one run on three hits with three K's in his two innings of work. Cornett came in to pitch in the eighth and struck out three during two hitless innings to earn his first save of the season.

Williams tallied three hits, two RBI, and scored four times while Harrison-Dudley finished a double short of the cycle and drove in a pair of runs in the series opener. Nik Sanchez all had three hits and drove in a run at the designated hitter spot.

In game two, Cameron and Texas A&M International again played to a 5-all tie, but this time it was the Dustdevils who came through with the clutch hit in the ninth inning to earn the walk-off win.

Jayce Clem got things started in the first, driving in Ohman on a single to left, but TAMIU answered with two in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

In the fifth, the Aggies broke out for a four-run inning to take back the lead. With the bases loaded and two outs, Ohman came up with a bases clearing double, scoring Nate Vargo, Haynes, and Macias. Williams then added to his hit total with an infield single two batters late, bringing Ohman home for the fourth run of the inning.

The Dustdevils cut into the lead with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly in the sixth and then tied it on an error with two outs in the seventh.

In the ninth, Drew Henderson allowed a leadoff single to Brett Hargens, who was then moved to second on a sac bunt. CU skipper then brought Joseph Flood in on the mound and after issuing a walk to put runners on first and second, the senior gave up a single to left by Ryan Baily that brought home Hargens and ended the game.

Tyler Garcia started the game on the mound for the Aggies, giving up four runs on five hits before being pulled for Henderson in the sixth. Henderson gave up the two runs, one earned, on two hits and struck out three in his three innings of work.

Ohman had a solid game at the plate, going 3-6 with two runs scored, three RBI, and three doubles. The other seven Cameron hits were spread across seven different players. They also stranded 18 runners on base and struck out 12 times in the loss.

After splitting the opening two games, both teams will be going of the series win on Saturday as they wrap up the three-game set in Laredo. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
