SNU Tops Aggies

LAWTON, Okla. – Anjolie Navarrete recorded her second triple-double of the season as Cameron falls on Tuesday to Southern Nazarene 1-3, 20-25, 25-20, 26-28, 26-28 inside the Aggie Gym.

Anjolie Navarrete totaled 21 assists, 13 kills, and 11 digs; she also scored four aces and tallied five blocks in the match. Arianna Navarrete collected another double-double with 15 digs and 12 kills.

Natalia Araujo added 11 kills, Caitlyn Henderson had six, Jessica Lipkit scored three, Trinity Maldonado recorded two, and Jacee Stelter had one.

Alice Tuci dished out 19 assists, and Meagan Jimenez recorded five.

Jimenez had a team-high 20 digs, Araujo scooped 17, Tuci added nine, Henderson and Lipkit scored two, and Stelter added one.

Lipkit tallied a game-high nine blocks, Araujo, Henderson, and Anjolie Navarrete blocked six, Arianna Navarrete swatted three, Stelter recorded two, and Maldonado had one.

Joining Anjolie Navarrete with aces were Araujo and Tuci with two.

Southern Nazarene started the night with a 1-6 lead, and CU chipped away to tie the set at 9-9. Cameron used a 5-1 run to take their first lead at 14-11. SNU responded with a 2-12 rally to take a 16-23 lead. The Black-and-Gold attempted to climb back but did not have enough time falling in the opening set 20-25.

Set two was a back-and-forth battle, recording nine ties during the set. The Aggies would build a 13-9 lead, but an 0-4 run would knot the score at 13-13. CU would go on a 4-0 run, but the Crimson Storm responded with a 0-4 rally to tie the match at 18-18. Cameron used a 7-2 scoring to flip the script from the first set, winning 25-20.

The third set was a battle, with CU would hold as much as a three-point lead at 9-6. SNU used a 1-4 rally to tie the set at 12-12. The teams would trade two points at a time before SNU would score three points to take a 17-19 lead. CU would go on a 5-0 run to take the lead at 22-19; Southern Nazarene ramble an 0-4 run to take a 22-23 lead. The Aggies would have the serve twice for set points but could not capitalize, falling in the set 26-28.

SNU started with a 3-6 lead in the fourth set, but Cameron battled back to tie the match at 7-7. Southern Nazarene would keep a slight advantage until the Black-and-Gold battled back to knot the score at 19-19 and take a 22-20 lead. The Aggies could not close out the set, falling to SNU in the third set 26-28.

Cameron hits the round for a trip to Edmond, Okla., to take on Oklahoma Christian on Friday at 6 pm.
