Oklahoma Christian Sinks Cameron

EDMOND, Okla. – Cameron drops the match to Oklahoma Christian in five sets on Friday evening inside the Payne Athletic Center, 25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 13-25, and 8-15.

Arianna Navarrete led the Aggies with 15 kills, Anjolie Navarrete collected 13, Caitlyn Henderson added 10, Jessica Lipkit had eight, Natalia Araujo scored six kills, Trinity Maldonado added four, and Camila Bolsoni, Meagan Jimenez, and Jacee Stelter had one.

Alice Tuci collected a team-high 23 assists, Anjolie Navarrete dished out 20 assists, Jimenez recorded eight, Lipkit had two and Araujo, Bolsoni, and Henderson added one.

Jimenez had a game-high 24 digs, Arianna Navarrete collected 12, Bolsoni scooped 11, Henderson and Anjolie Navarrete added nine, Tuci scored five, Lipkit collected four, Araujo grabbed three, and Maldonado had one.

Lipkit collected a team-high five blocks, Anjolie Navarrete blocked three, Araujo, Henderson, Maldonado, and Arianna Navarrete added two blocks, and Stelter recorded one.

Lipkit scored two aces, and Arianna Navarrete added one.

The Aggies started the match on a mission, trading points to start the first set before going on a 5-1 run to take a 9-6 lead. CU would go on a 7-0 rally to extend their lead to 17-8. Cameron would hold off the Eagles taking the opening set 25-17.

Set two was a battle as the teams traded leads. The largest lead of the set would be three, which CU would hold at 11-8 and 14-11, OC would have a 17-20 lead late, but with a rally, the Black-and-Gold would take a 2-0 lead after a 26-24 lead, after outscoring the Eagles 9-4 down the stretch.

The third set started close, with the teams trading scores early, before knotting up at 8-8. OC would go on an 0-4 run to take an 8-12 lead and a 1-7 advantage to extend their lead to eight points 12-20. The Aggies would not go away, climbing back to bring the score within two at 22-24; after an attack error, OC would win the set 22-25.

Oklahoma Christian started the fourth set on a 0-4 run, stretching their lead to 3-12, and 7-19, before closing the set with a 13-25 score.

The fifth set started with the team trading points until 4-4. OC would use an 0-3 run and an 0-4 rally; then, they would go on to win the fifth set 08-15.

The Aggies head to Arkansas to face the University of Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday at 1 pm.
