FORT SMITH, Ark. – Cameron tripped up by Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday afternoon in the Gayle Kaundart Arena 0-3.

Arianna Navarrete paced the CU attack with nine kills, Caitlyn Henderson and Anjolie Navarrete recorded five, Jessica Lipkit added two, and Natalia Araujo and Trinity Maldonado had one.

Arianna Navarrete collected a team-high 21 digs, Meagan Jimenez had 13, Henderson added 11, Anjolie Navarrete recorded eight, Alice Tuci grabbed seven, Araujo scooped four, and Lipkit had three.

Tuci dished out a team-high 18 assists, Anjolie Navarrete had three, and Jimenez added one.

Maldonado led the Aggies with three blocks, Araujo collected two, and Arianna Navarrete had one.

Jimenez had the one ace for Cameron.

The Black-and-Gold opened the match with a 3-0 rally, but UAFS responded with a run of 0-5 to take the lead. CU would tie the set at 5-5, but an 0-7 run from the Lions would give them a 5-12 advantage. The Aggies could not close the gap, falling in the first set 19-25.

The second set started by trading points, with UAFS getting ahead 7-8; they used a 0-6 run to extend their lead to 7-14. The Aggies would be outscored the rest of the set 4-11. The Lions closed the set on a 0-7 rally to take the set 11-25.

Fort Smith started the final set with a 2-6 advantage. CU would trim the deficit to one, at 5-6, but an 0-4 run by UAFS would give them a 5-10 lead. The Black-and-Gold could not stop the Lions down the stretch falling in the third set 14-25.

Cameron will return home to host Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 21, at 5:30 pm. The Aggies will host Lubbock Christian on Saturday, Oct. 22, for the Dig Pink game at 2 pm.
