Cameron Stumbles Against Eastern New Mexico

LAWTON, Okla. – Arianna Navarrete of Cameron volleyball recorded her first 20-20 game of her career during the Aggies' loss to Eastern New Mexico 2-3 on Friday evening in the Aggie Gym.

Arianna Navarrete tallied 21 kills and 21 digs, both team-highs. Trinity Maldonado swatted 10 attacks in the contest.

Caitlyn Henderson and Jessica Lipkit recorded eight kills, Natalia Araujo and Jacee Stelter collected five, and Maldonado had three.

Anjolie Navarrete dished out 22 assists, Alice Tuci had 17, Meagan Jimenez added eight, and Henderson and Stelter had one.

Araujo, Lipkit, and Arianna Navarrete scored three aces in the match, while Jimenez had two, and Anjolie Navarrete added one.

Jimenez recorded 14 digs, Tuci collected 13, and Araujo added 12 digs. Camilla Bolsoni grabbed nine, Anjolie Navarrete added eight, Henderson had five, and Lipkit and Stelter collected four.

Arianna Navarrete and Henderson collected six blocks, Lipkit blocked three, Araujo swatted two, and Stelter added one block.

Eastern New Mexico started with a 3-5 advantage. After a 6-2 rally, CU would take a 9-7 lead. The Greyhounds would claw back into the set, knotting the score at 19-19. The Black-and-Gold would respond, closing the set with a 6-3 run to take the opening set 25-22.

CU started with a bang in set two, jumping to a 6-3. ENMU would take a slight lead at 9-13, but the Aggies would hit back with a 4-0 run to tie the score at 13-13. Eastern would use a 1-6 run to take a 14-19 lead. Cameron did not fold, battling to tie the set at 22-22, but the Greyhounds would take set two 22-25.

ENMU opened the third set with a 1-6 lead. The Black-and-Gold would go on a 6-0 rally to take the lead at 7-6, and after a 7-1 run, extend their lead to 15-9, never trailing the rest of the set, and holding off an 0-6 stretch by ENMU, to take the set 25-22.

The two teams traded scores early until they were tied at 7-7. Cameron would score three straight points to take a 10-7 lead. Eastern New Mexico used a 1-6 run to take the lead at 11-13. The Aggies would go on a 6-0 run late to take a 21-17 lead, but ENMU would close out the set with a 5-11 rally to take set four 28-26.

The fifth set started with the team trading points until 5-5. CU would use a 3-0 run to force the mid-set switch at 8-5. The Greyhounds would go on a 1-5 rally to take the lead at 9-10. The two teams would go on to hold ties at the 10-10, 11-11, 12-12, 13-13, and 14-14 marks before Eastern New Mexico would go on to take the final two tallies to come back and with 14-16, and taking the match 2-3.

The Aggies will host the annual Dig Pink game on Saturday at 2 pm when they face Lubbock Christian.
