Aggies Drop Match to SWOSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Cameron volleyball dropped the Great American Conference/Lone Star Conference mid-week matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State 0-3 on Tuesday evening in the Pioneer Cellular Center.
 
Alice Tuci recorded a double-double in the loss for the Aggies, recording 10 assists and 12 digs.
 
Meagan Jimenez turned in a team-high 15 digs, Anjolie Navarrete and Tuci added 12, Arianna Navarrete had 11, Natalia Araujo picked six, Jacee Stelter scooped three, and Jessica Lipkit had one.
 
Arianna Navarrete led CU with seven kills, Caitlyn Henderson, Trinity Maldonado, and Anjolie Navarrete collected four, Araujo added two, and Lipkit and Stelter had one kill.
 
Tuci had a team-high 10 assists, Anjolie Navarrete added nine, and Araujo, Jimenez, and Maldonado had one.
 
Araujo scored two aces, and Jimenez had one.
 
Maldonado led Cameron with four blocks, Araujo and Lipkit had two, and Henderson and Anjolie Navarrete added one.
 
Cameron opened with a 5-4 lead, but Southwestern would take an 8-5 lead with a 0-4 run. The Black-and-Gold would respond with a 10-4 rally to take a 15-12 lead. The Bulldogs would come alive, going on a 3-13 run to close out set one 18-25.
 
CU started with a 3-1 lead but quickly trailed 3-4 before retaking the lead 5-4. The two teams would end up tied at 6-6 and 10-10. The Aggies would use a 6-1 rally to take a 13-11 lead, which was answered with a 0-5 rally by SWOSU to give them a 13-16 advantage, which they would never surrender. Cameron would get within four points at 17-21 and 19-23 before Southwestern closed out the set 19-25.
 
The Black-and-Gold would again have an early lead at 3-1 before surrendering it and trailing the Bulldogs 3-5. SWOSU would use a 0-5 run to take a 7-15 lead. The Aggies would trim the deficit to 16-17 with a 9-3 rally. Southwestern would answer back, going on a 0-5 run to take a 16-22 lead before closing the match with a third set win of 20-25.
 
The Aggies head to Denton, Texas, to face off against Texas Woman's on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 pm.
