Aggies Drop Match Saturday

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Anjolie Navarrete recorded her 10th double-double to lead Cameron as they fell to Midwestern State Saturday afternoon 22-25, 19-25, and 22-25 inside the D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
Anjolie Navarrete dished out a team-high 15 assists and grabbed 10 digs to pace the Aggies. 
 
Alice Tuci collected 14 assists, Meagan Jimenez shared two, and Arianna Navarrete had one assist. 
 
Jimenez led CU with 18 digs, Arianna Navarrete added 11, Natalia Araujo had nine, Tuci scooped seven, Caitlyn Henderson collected four, and Jacee Stelter added one. 
 
Henderson and Anjolie Navarrete led Cameron with eight kills, Araujo collected six, Arianna Navarrete added five, Stelter recorded four kills, Jessica Lipkit had two, and Jimenez added one. 
 
Araujo led the Black-and-Gold with eight blocks, Lipkit swatted seven, and Anjolie Navarrete and Stelter had two. 
   
Tuci scored two aces for the Aggies, and Araujo had one.
 
Set one opened with the two teams trading points, coming out tied at 4-4. Cameron would use a 4-2 rally to take an 8-6 lead. MSU used a 2-7 run to take a 10-13 lead. CU battled back with a 5-1 run to knot the score at 16-16. The teams would trade scores, holding a tie at 17-17, 19-19, 20-20, and 21-21, but Midwestern would go on a 1-4 rally to close out the set 22-25. 
 
MSU opened the second set with a 3-11 start that Cameron could not overcome. The Aggies would not go away, chipping away to cut the score within four at 10-14, but that would be the closest it would be, as MSU would take the set 19-25. 
 
TWU started with an early lead, but a 6-0 run by the Black-and-Gold would give them an 8-5 lead. CU would extend their lead to 15-9, holding a 19-14 lead late. Texas Woman's clamped down, going on an 0-11 rally to steal the first set 19-25.
 
The final set started with Midwestern ahead 3-5, but CU would tie and take the lead at 6-5. MSU responded to retake the lead at 7-6. Cameron would retie the match at 7-7 and later at 11-11. Tied 12-12, MSU would score four straight points, which was answered by a 4-0 run from the Aggies to knot the score at 16-16. The teams would trade scores and come out tied at 19-19 before MSU took a 19-21 lead. The Black-and-Gold would trim the gap to 22-23, but MSU would score the final two points and take the set 22-25 to win the match. 
 
The Black-and-Gold will return home to host Southern Nazarene on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 pm. The match will be Cameron's Military Appreciation match and will provide free entry to fans with military IDs and their families.
