Cameron falls in nine innings against ATU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Despite a gem of a performance in the circle by sophomore Jocelyn Bright, the Aggie softball team lost in extra innings to Arkansas Tech on Friday, 4-1.

Cameron entered their second weekend at the Edmond Festival with a 9-2 record, set to face five tough opponents over the weekend starting with the Golden Suns on Friday afternoon at Piedmont HS.

Bright allowed just one run and three hits during the first seven innings of play. ATU was able to get three more runs in the game but all three were unearned. Bright ended the game with nine strikeouts, giving up the four runs on four hits and just one walk in her first loss of the season.

Cameron's first and only run of the game came across in the first when Khmari Edwards, who singled with one out came in to score after a Breley Webb single was misplayed by the ATU centerfielder.

The Golden Suns lone earned run came via a solo homer in the sixth. They then got the benefit of a couple of Aggie errors in the ninth to give them a 4-1 lead that ended up being the final score.

Edwards had two of the Aggies' eight hits, while freshman catcher Kaiden Boren also had two. Cameron stranded nine runners on base and stuck out four times as a team.

Cameron has two games on Saturday, first against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 10:30 a.m. on the campus of Oklahoma Christian. They then face No. 14 Rogers State at 5:15 p.m. back at Piedmont HS for a rematch of a meeting last weekend that the Hillcats won 17-2 in five innings.
