LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships concluded on Saturday with the Cameron men finishing 10th as a team and the women finishing in 11th place.
Both Aggie teams earned most of their total points during Friday's action at the Texas Tech Performance Center. Cameron's women had five points at the end of day one and finished the meet with five points. The men were able to add one point on Saturday finishing with five points as well.
For the women, the day started with freshman
Daesha Brathwaite placing 12th in the mile with a time of 5:32.69.
Belle Vignes finished in 19th place in the 3000m event, running a time of 11:11.63.
CU's 4x400 team of Brathwaite,
Prisca Kouao,
Serah Timbwol, and
Genevieve Young ran a time of 4:08.42 to place nineth in the relay.
Saulo Yoel and
AJ Espino kicked off the day for the men with Yoel finishing 10th with a time of 4:27.17 in the mile run and Espino placing 14th in the event.
Edward Kipruto and
Jason Cousineau finished back-to-back in the 3000m event with Kipruto finishing 11th with a time of 9:04.58 and Cousineau running a time of 9:05.87 to place 12th.
The men's 4x400 team of
Madison Edwards,
Kevin Garcia,
Lamon Miles, and
Sebastian Padron placed eighth with a time of 3:24.02 to earn the one point on the day.
West Texas A&M claimed both of the LSC Championship titles with the men totaling 206 points and the women earning 215.5 points for the entire meet.
Cameron's track and field programs will have a few weeks off before starting the outdoor season on March 18-19 at the West Kittley Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas.
