Game Recap: Baseball |

Clem's four hits not enough in doubleheader

LAWTON – Despite a solid day at the plate by Jayce Clem, the Aggie offense could not keep up with the UT Tyler offense, dropping both games of a doubleheader on Saturday 13-5 and 7-2.

After falling in game one of the series against the Patriots, the Cameron baseball team hosted the Patriots for two more games that saw the visiting team total 20 runs in the twin-bill to claim the series win with still one more game to play Sunday.

In game one, UT Tyler struck for three runs in the first and six in the second to set the tone early. They added four more in the final five innings to total 13 in Saturday's opener.

Clem provided the offense for the Black and Gold, totaling three hits and five RBI in the loss. Jordan Harrison-Dudley and Zac DeLong both had two hits as CU totaled 10 in the loss.

Marcos Feria struck out five batters in relief of Kalen Haynes while Weston Max struck out two and gave up one run in two innings of work.

DeLong gave the Aggies a 1-0 lead early in game two, but UT Tyler quickly responded with two in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and two more in the fifth for a 7-0 run.

CU got their second run of the game in the fifth as Beau Williams scored on an error off the bat of Clem.

Williams totaled three hits while Clem added another to give him four for the day.

Drew Henderson struck out four batters in 4.2 innings but gave up five earned runs on seven hits and four free passes. Evan Nicholas pitched the final 2.1 innings, holding the Patriots scoreless and striking out two.

Cameron is now 8-14 overall this season and 8-13 in league play. The two teams will finish off the 4-game set on Sunday at McCord Field with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
