TROPHY CLUB, Texas – Led by
Iona Roska's sixth place finish, the Aggies came in seventh at the Lion Invitational after shooting a 328 in the final round on Tuesday.
Cameron entered the final day in seventh and remained there after carding their 328 to finish with a 970 for the 54-hole event. They finished 35 strokes back of the host and tournament winning Texas A&M-Commerce, who shot a field best 318 on Tuesday.
Roska led the Aggies with a 78 in the final round with one birdie, giving her a 237 for the event and another top-10 finish after placing second last week.
Ellie Fellers and
Ashley Davis both finished in a tie for 23rd place with a score of 243 after shooting an 83 and an 85 in the third round.
Emma Englefield shot an 82 in the third round and finished with a 253 and then
Gerdur Ragnarsdottir carded an 88 to finish with a 256.
Molleejo Crain competed as an individual, finishing play at the Trophy Club with an 85 to finish with a 253.
Cameron finished the event with 131 pars and 13 birdies. Ragnarsdottir and Fellers both led the way with four birdies while Davis had 32 made pars and Roska finished with 31.
The Lions won the tournament by eight strokes, beating out Angelo State who finished in second with a 943. Southwestern Oklahoma State placed third, Arkansas Tech came in fourth, and Harding and Midwestern State both finish in fifth, eight strokes ahead of Cameron.
Jacqueline Klemm from ATU won the event by one stroke with a 224 while the Lions' Sophie-Charlott Hempel was the runner-up at her home tournament.
Cameron's final warm-up tournament before the Lone Star Conference Championship, April 21-23, is next week when they make the annual trip to Goodyear, Ariz. for the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, April 1-2.
