McClenan's shutout leads CU to finale win over UAFS

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Clayton McClenan led the Aggies with a complete game shutout as they picked up a 3-0 win in the series finale at UAFS to earn the split with the Lions.

Cameron suffered a pair of walkoff losses to open the 4-game set in Fort Smith before winning 12-3 in the third game of the series. Led by a gem of a start by the sophomore McClenan, Kyle Williams' squad earned their fourth series split of the season with a 3-0 win in Sunday's finale.

The Lion's offense could not get anything going against CU's starter, tallying just six base runners, five on hits, while striking out five times. McClenan struck out five UAFS batters over the nine innings, just a few weeks removed from striking out 10 in a win against UT Permian Basin.

Cameron's offense totaled three runs on eight hits in support of their starting pitcher. After battling in a scoreless game for the first four innings, CU broke into the scoring column with Julian Macias driving in Erik Ohman on a single in the fifth and then scoring on a Tyler Coleman groundout.

Coleman added a third insurance run in the top of the seventh as he drew a walk with the bases loaded, allowing Ohman to score again from third.

Beau Williams and Ohman each had 2-hit performances with Ohman scoring two of CU's three runs. Macias, Harrison-Dudley, Colby Flood, and Ryan Allen provided the other four hits. The Aggie lineup drew four walks, struck out five times, and stranded 11 runners on base.

Cameron is now 10-17 overall and 10-16 in league play with the win and are now 4-0 in games where they try and earn a split of the series in the finale.

The Aggies host Southwestern Oklahoma State for the second half of a home-and-home series on Tuesday, March 29, starting at 2 p.m. They then have Oklahoma Christian come to McCord Field for four games over the weekend, April 1-3.
