LAWTON – The Cameron men's tennis team earned a close win over the third ranked JUCO team in the country, Seward County, on Sunday for their ninth win of the year. 
 
The Aggies took a break from their stretch of Lone Star Conference matches to host another top-5 ranked team in the junior college ranks. After taking a 3-0 lead, CU held on for the 4-3 win over the Saints. 
 
Cameron opened the match with a 6-2 win at one doubles by Tomas Almeida and Thomas Cardona, but SCC came back with a 6-2 win of their own at three.

In what could have been the deciding battle of the match, Kristian Kubik and Carlos Vidal won their tiebreak 7-4 to earn a 7-6 win at two to take the doubles point. 
 
Cardona and Almeida quickly gave the Aggies a 3-0 lead with wins at two and one and then after a loss at three, Sean Batkis earned a comeback 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 win at five to secure the match win. The Saints got wins at four and six to make the score 4-3. 
 
Now 9-6 on the season, the Aggies are 2-2 against some of the top junior college teams in the nation. 
 
After the home match on Sunday, Cameron is back on the road Tuesday, April 12, as they visit rival Midwestern State for a 1 p.m. start.
