Tenth ranked Aggies fall to No. 6 UCO

LAWTON – The 10th ranked Aggies faced a 24-hour rain delay and the sixth ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos the past two days, falling 6-1 in the tough matchup.

Cameron, now 17-4 this season has lost just two matches in their last 17 and both of those losses came against teams that are currently ranked in the top-25 by the ITA (UCO and No. 25 Angelo State).

Doubles play wrapped up on Tuesday as Cameron had a tough task, as all three of UCO's pairs are currently ranked by the ITA, including the No. 1 ranked pairing of sisters Mae Canete and Christine Canete.

Facing Cameron's 25th ranked duo of Anastasia Uspenskaia and Magda Wawrowska, UCO's ones handled the Aggies' 6-2 while also getting wins in the other spots 6-4 and 7-5.

After singles play was delayed to Wednesday due to rain the Bronchos picked up where they left off, winnig five of the six singles matches, including all three ranked battlers at one, two, and three in two sets. Cameron's one win came from Wawrowska at four as she defeated her opponent 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

Vasilisa Polunova, Uspenskaia, and Lea Manga all lost in two to players ranked ahead of them by the ITA and Kateryna Rudenko and Pilar Jaurena also lost in two sets at four and six.

The Aggie women will wrap up the regular season with UAFS on Thursday, April 21, at 2 p.m. as they try and clinch at least a share of the Lone Star Conference Regular Season Championship with a win.
