NORMAN – The Aggie track and field programs had a handful of top-10 finishes this weekend as they competed against both Division I and II talent at the University of Oklahoma hosted John Jacobs Invitational.
Cameron had a trio of runners compete in Friday night's 5000m race.
Belle Vignes came in sixth in the women's race with a time of 19:02.87 while
Edward Kipruto finished in fifth in the men's race with a time of 17:36.38 with
Daniel Parra coming in ninth.
Lamon Miles was featured in two events for CU, running a time of 23.60 in the 200m dash while pacing three Aggies with a time of 1:59.46 in the 800 to finish in 20th place with
Allen Vasquez and
Nathan Kemp behind him. Freshman
Genevieve Young led a group of five CU runners in the women's 800, finishing with a time of 2:23.52 to place 17th with
Daesha Brathwaite also coming in the top-25 finishers.
In the 400,
Serah Timbwol placed 15th with a time of 1:04.20 in the women's race and
Kevin Garcia ran a time of 52.22 in the men's race. Three CU men were in the top-10 of the 3000m steeplechase with
AJ Espino coming in third with a time of 10:02.21, followed by
Nino Heluin and
Brian Easter.
Both programs had multiple entries in the 1500 as well with Brathwaite running a time of 4:57.40 to place 11thahead of teammate
Arian Spears in the women's race and
Jason Cousineau running a time of 4:11.37, finishing in 21st to pace Easter and
Clement Carre.
Cameron's lone relay team to finish the 4x400 was the quartet of
Madison Edwards,
Sebastian Padron, Garcia, and Miles as the group combined for a time of 3:27.37, the fourth best Division II time in the event.
The Aggies' next event on the schedule is the Oliver Jackson Twilight hosted by Abilene Christian on Thursday, April 28, in Abilene, Texas. It will be their final tune-up meet before the Lone Star Conference Championships, which will take place May 5-7 in Kingsville, Texas.
