KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Cameron track and field programs wrapped up the 2022 outdoor season on Saturday with the final day of the Lone Star Conference Championships.
After qualifying for the 1500m final on Thursday, freshman
Daesha Brathwaite came in 11th on Saturday, finishing with a time of 4:56.14 in the event.
A little later in the day,
Jason Cousineau finished in 11th place in the 5000m event with a time of 15:54.32 while his teammate
AJ Espino finished in 19th place in the event.
On the women's side,
Belle Vignes, who placed fifth in the 10K on Thursday night, came in 17th, crossing the finish line at 20:08.37.
In the 4x400 relay,
Roshae Burrell,
Genevieve Young,
Alejandra Collier, and Brathwaite came in eighth place, earning a point for the team, with a combined time of 4:08.98.
Cameron's men's team of
Kevin Garcia,
Nathan Kemp,
Lamon Miles, and
Allen Vasquez finished ninth with a time of 3:28.42.
The Aggie women finished with five points in the team standings, four from Vignes top-5 finish and one from the 4x400 team. The men totaled four points thanks to Espino's top-5 finish in the 3000m steeplechase on Friday.
West Texas A&M claimed two more LSC Outdoor Championships, totaling 214 points on the men's side and 230 points in the women's standings. The Buffs two programs won by a combined 89 points.
