Cameron Drops LSC Opener

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron volleyball team falls in the Lone Star Conference opener to UT Tyler 17-25, 16-25, 11-25 inside the Aggie Gym Friday evening.
 
Arianna Navarrete led the Aggies with seven kills and nine digs. Paris Patterson had three kills, Jacee Stelter collected two, and Natalia Araujo, Jessica Lipkit, and Anjolie Navarrete added one. 
 
Anjolie Navarrete collected five of the seven aces from Cameron on the day; Meagan Jimenez and Arianna Navarrete had the others.
 
Anjolie Navarrete collected 11 assists, and Meagan Jimenez had four.
 
Arianna Navarrete had a team-high nine digs, Jimenez and Patterson added seven, Anjolie Navarrete scooped five, Araujo had three, and Stelter added two.
 
Araujo, Henderson, Lipkit, and Arianna Navarrete recorded two blocks, while Trinity Maldonado and Anjolie Navarrete added one.
 
The Black-and-Gold dominated to open the game with a 6-1 start and stretched it to a 10-3 lead. UT Tyler used a 9-0 run to take the lead at 10-12, Cameron would tie it up at 12-12, but the Patriots 13-5 rally to close out the first set.
 
The second set started close, with early ties at 1-1, 4-4, and 6-6. UT Tyler would use a 12-2 advantage to stretch their lead to 16-8. UT Tyler would use that lead to hold on and take set two 16-25. 
 
The Patriots would open the third set strong, building a 1-8 lead, before stretching it to 4-14 and 9-24. After a two-point rally by the Aggies, UT Tyler would close the match with an 11-25 third-set win. 
 
The Black-and-Gold will turn around and host Dallas Baptist on Saturday in the Aggie Gym at 2 pm.
