Almeida/Cardona move into the ITA Regional Doubles Championship

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Tomas Almeida/Thomas Cardona of Cameron will advance to the double championship on Saturday at the Weeks Park Tennis Center in the ITA Regional hosted by Midwestern State.

Top-seeded duo of Almeida/ Cardona takes down the team from MSU 8-6 in the quarterfinals. The Aggies would defeat the pair from UT Tyler 6-2, 7-6(7-4) in the semifinals. They will face the second-seeded team from UT Tyler on Saturday at 1 pm.

The duo of Emilio Seelbach/Alvaro Chavez drops the match to MSU's team 8-9(4-7) in the C-quarterfinals.

No. 2 seed, Cardona, opened Friday by knocking off Aaron Capone of Dallas Baptist 6-1, 6-3. Cardona falls in the quarterfinals to Kelly Giese of Lubbock Christian 4-6, 7-5.

Joao Duleba fell to the eighth-seeded Charles Heffernan of MSU in the round of 16 4-6, 7-6(7-4), 5-7.

Kristian Kubik would beat Paul Claussen of Western New Mexico Friday morning 7-5, 7-5, before falling to Jonas Krahofer from UT Permian Basin 3-6, 6-2. 5-10 in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.
