Boone Breaks School Record at Herm Wilson Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. – Cameron women's track and field continued their strong start to the indoor track season this weekend at the Herm Wilson Invitational hosted by Wichita State.

Denim Boone improved her 60-meter time, breaking the school record set in 2019 by Bailey Sullivan. Boone finished the sprint in 8.23 seconds, which is 0.06 seconds faster than what she ran in Norman last week. Amiah Osborne completed the race in 9.17 seconds.

Boone finished the 200-meter run in 17th place, with a time of 27.27 seconds, and Osborne crossed the finish line at the 31.58 second mark.

Daesha Brathwaite turned in a fourth-place finish in the 800m race with a time of two minutes and 24.50 seconds, Genevieve Young placed 10th, clocking a time of 2:30.81, Anne de Jong had a time of 2:31.05 to come in 11th place. Melohdee Marroquin ran the race in 2:32.57 to finish in 13th, and Arian Spears finished in 21st with a time of 2:39.34.

Spears and Belle Vignes turned in a top-10 finish in the one mile. Spears placed ninth, and Vignes right behind her in 10th. Spears completed the race with a time of 5:41.92, and Vignes had a time of 5:42.17.

In the 3000-meters, Vignes finished in sixth place after finishing with a time of 10:51.70, Mathilde Winther came in 11th, clocking a time of 11:34.65, Emma Costantini had a time of 12:07.76 to place 16th, and Evalynn Pedrosa crossed in 17th place with a time of 12:16.19, and Delicia Delgadillo finished in 19^th place after clocking a time of 12:32.12.

The Aggies 4x400 relay team finished in sixth place with a time of 4:17.26.

Cameron takes a week off before they will head back to Kansas to compete in two different meets. Pittsburg State is hosting the Gorilla Classic, and Washburn will have the Ichabod Invitational on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11.
