LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron stretches their win streak to five games after run-ruling UT Permian Basin twice on Friday at the McMahon Field, beating 14-2 in the series opener before taking the second game 8-0.
Robyn Bales continues to shine early this season, pitching four innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out five. Jocelyn Bright pitched the fifth inning without giving up a hit.
Khmari Edwards went 2-for-2 with two runs, a double, a stolen base, and a walk, Taylor Rowley was 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, a home run, and a stolen base, and Josie Swafford had a 2-for-2 game with three RBI, three runs, two doubles, a stolen base, and a walk.
Ashlynn Bruce went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs, an RBI, a home run, and a stolen base, Kylie French was 1-for-2 with two runs, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base, and Kaiden Boren went 1-for-3 with two runs, and a walk. Karis Clark had a 1-for-3 game with an RBI, and Maci McMurtrey was 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.
The Aggies would score three runs in the first when Rowley launched a three-run home run down the line in left, scoring Bruce and Swafford.
In the third, Swafford doubled home French and Boren, then Clack singled back through the box to knock in Edwards and Swafford to extend the CU lead to 7-0.
UTPB got two runs in the fourth, but the Black-and-Gold answered back in their half of the inning, doubling their score to lead 14-2. Bruce got things going with a solo home run, and Swafford doubled in French. Boren scored on a Rowley single, Swafford scored on a double steal, McMurtrey beat out a ground ball to second to score Edwards, and Rowley came in after the Falcons fell asleep on the play defensively. Mcmurtrey scored on a sacrifice fly from French.
Swafford started in the circle in game two, throwing six innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts. At the plate, she would earn a walk and steal a base.
French was 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a double, McMurtrey was 2-for-3 with a run, and Bruce, Boren, Edwards, Kelsye Loughman, and Kyndel McDaniel each collected a hit. Boren drove in two Aggies, while Loughman knocked in one. Edwards and Rowley scored two runs, and Boren and McDaniel crossed the plate once. Rowley swiped two bases, and Boren stole one. Edwards was hit by a pitch.
Cameron scored their first two runs via the wild pitch, which allowed Edwards and Boren to score in the first inning.
Bruce drove in McDaniel with a single into the corner in right to stretch the CU lead to 3-0 after two innings.
Loughman singled to score Rowley in the third.
French doubled to drive in McMurtrey, and Edwards scored on a sac fly from Boren in the fourth to give the Aggies a 6-0 lead.
In the fifth, Rowley stole second but would come around to score on two errors by the Falcons to extend the Cameron lead to 7-0.
Boren would walk it off via run-rule in the sixth with a double into the gap in right-center to drive in French, giving the Black-and-Gold an 8-0 win in game two.
CU will wrap up the series with UTPB on Saturday, with game three starting at noon.
