LUBBOCK, Texas – Cameron women's track and field would score five points on the opening day of the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships hosted on the campus of Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Genevieve Young qualified for the finals in the 800-meters with her time of 2:22.15, ranking her fifth heading into the championship race tomorrow. Daesha Brathwaite finished in 11th place with a time of 2:25.52, and Mathilde Winther clocked a time of 2:32.50 to place 19th.
Denim Boone turned in a 15th-place finish in the 60-meter sprint with a time of 7.89 seconds, while Amiah Osborne came in 20th after running 8.79 seconds.
The women's distance medley team of Arian Spears, Young, Melohdee Marroquin, and Brathwaite recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 13 minutes and 10.08 seconds.
Belle Vignes ran in the 5000-meter run but lost track of her laps and did not finish the race.
The Aggies will finish the LSC Championship on Sunday.
