Aggies drop Twin Bill at No. 2 UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas – Cameron went on the road to face the second-ranked Patriots of UT Tyler for the first Lone Star Conference midweek doubleheader on Tuesday. The Aggies would fall in the opener 4-2 before getting beat 8-0 in five innings in the nightcap at Suddenlink Park.

Josie Swafford got the start in the circle in the first game, throwing a complete game in the loss, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out 10.

Taylor Rowley would go 2-for-3 with a run scored, Kaiden Boren was 1-for-3 with a run, Karis Clark went 1-for-3 driving in two, and Khmari Edwards had a 1-for-3 outing.

In the second, Clark smacked a single to right that scored Boren and Rowley, giving the Aggies a 2-0 lead early.

In the third, UT Tyler would get a run back, and in the sixth, they would score three to finish with a 4-2 win.

In the second game, The Patriots would stay hot at the plate, building an 8-0 lead on 11 hits over the first four innings.

Robyn Bales got the start pitching 3.2 innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. Jocelyn Bright got the final out but allowed a run on two hits.

UT Tyler would hold Cameron hitless in the nightcap, but a walks by Maci McMurtrey and Kyndel McDaniel would break up the perfect game by Kaylee Davis.

The Aggies will finish the series with game three tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
