LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron softball team wins the first game of the Red River rivalry 7-0 Saturday afternoon at McMahon Field.
Josie Swafford started the game, pitching a complete-game one-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Kaiden Boren powered the Aggies' bats, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, a run, a home run, and a stolen base, Karis Clark was 2-for-2 with a run and a walk, and Swafford was 1-for-1 with two walks, a double, and an RBI. Kylie French was 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and a walk, Khmari Edwards had a 1-for-4 game with a run scored, and Taylor Rowley was 1-for-3 with two runs, an RBI, a walk, and a double.
CU got on the board in the first when French singled to left to drive in Edwards, then Rowley came in to score off a Boren single to make it after an inning.
In the fifth, the Black-and-Gold would score their other five runs. French scored on a passed ball, Boren smashed a two-run home run to score Rowley, and Swafford knocked in Clark with a double to make it 7-0.
Cameron will finish up the series with a doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon.
