Cameron Sweeps Doubleheader Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO – Cameron took a doubleheader sweep over St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon at the Cornerstone Christian Softball Field with a 5-3 win in the first game and taking the second game 8-3.

The Black-and-Gold moves to 17-12 overall and 14-9 in the Lone Star Conference.


Khmari Edwards was 2-for-4 with RBI, and Taylor Rowley was 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a home run, and a double. Kaiden Boren, Ashlynn Bruce, Karis Clark, Alyssa Deanda, and Josie Swafford collected a hit, with Boren, Rowley, and Swafford hitting a home run.


Swafford got the start, pitching three innings, allowing a run on two hits while striking out four. Jocelyn Bright won, throwing the final four innings, surrendering two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.


Rowley scored the first run on a Rattler error in the second.

StMU tied the game in the bottom of the second.

Swafford hit a solo home run in the fourth, and St. Mary's responded with two runs in the bottom half to take a 3-2 lead.

In the sixth, Cameron rallied with back-to-back solo home runs by Boren and Rowley, later Edwards singled in Bruce to make it 5-3.

In the second game, Robyn Bales throws a complete game in the win, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out three.

The Black-and-Gold spread out 13 hits in the game. Clark went 3-for-4 with a run and a stolen base, Boren was 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two home runs, and Bruce had a 2-for-4 game. Kylie French was 2-for-4 with a run, Kyndel McDaniel had one hit with two RBI, a run and a home run, Mikayla Richmond was 1-for-4, Rowley was 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a double, and Swafford went 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks, and a double.

The Aggies would get a run in the second, thanks to an error by the Rattlers.


In the fourth, Swafford stole home, then McDaniel hit a two-run home run to left to make it 4-0.

Boren hit a solo home run to left-center to make it 5-0.

St. Mary's would score three runs in the sixth to make it 5-3.

Cameron responded with a Rowley double to drive in French, then Boren hit a two-run home run to center to make it 8-3.

CU and the Rattlers will meet for game three at noon at The Park on the campus of St. Mary's.
